Ayuda is a nonprofit devoted to spaying and neutering dogs, most of which run wild in that country and cause all kinds of problems. It's an incredible and tiny organization, but they've done great work. They're in a place called Panajachel which is a small town on Lake Atitlan, one of the most jaw droppingly beautiful places on Earth.
Selaine is so devoted to this, it's her life's work and she loves it. She's now the "American dog lady" in that town, anytime there's a dog that needs to be sheltered they call her, anytime she hears of people trying to poison locals dogs she gets on their ass, she brings in vets from all over the world, she's linked to other organizations across Central America. She's very savvy, very street smart, she even landed a nice grant from the Brigitte Bardot Foundation in Paris, which was no easy trick.
